Vacancy: Sustainability Manager - Devoll Hydropower Sh.A. - Albania

Devoll Hydropower Sh.A. (DHP) is an Albanian registered company, part of the Norwegian Statkraft Group. In line with a Concession Agreement, DHP is responsible for the implementation and operation of the Devoll Hydropower Project along the Devoll River, in southeast Albania.

The Sustainability Manager will be part of a professional team that is responsible for management of the company’s sustainability standards and activities. The position shall report to the Head of Assets.

Your role: 

Areas of responsibility will include but not limited to:

  • Develop the company annual Sustainability Action Plan incl. country targets and actions and provide input to country planning and performance process, Statkraft strategic objectives for sustainability.
  • Develop procedures and processes based on the Statkraft requirements and following the local laws/regulations.
  • Manage sustainability activities (environmental, climate, social, human rights, etc.) for the DHP assets / projects, including monitoring of compliance with applicable plans and standards.
  • Working with project developers to support the development of their sustainability strategies, to help execute on specific projects. 
  • Ensure all required follow-up of sustainability topics (environmental and social) in the value chain at country level for operations, development, and construction.
  • Ensure implementation of human rights standard. Identify risks to avoid, minimise and/or mitigate impacts from our activities and ensure appropriate grievance mechanisms.
  • Ensuring the quarterly reporting process is carried out efficiently and accurately.
  • Conduct sustainability due diligence activities on the portfolio on an annual basis.
  • Performing due diligence for M&A with support from the Business Area team if required
  • Provide country specific advice and support relating to the sustainability area.
  • Conduct and ensure dialogue with relevant internal and external stakeholders affected by Statkraft’ s activities in Albania.
  • Ensure monitoring of the grievance mechanisms at country and project level, when required.
  • Conduct additional tasks/duties as to be requested by the line manager

Your profile:

  • University degree in social science, environmental studies, environmental engineering, or a related field 
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience 
  • Experience of the renewables sector and sustainable development best practice
  • Experience of working on environmental, social, and human rights issues 
  • Understanding of key environmental, social, and human rights international guidelines and frameworks 
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in Albanian and English 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop relationship in all target groups.
  • A collaborative team player with internal and external stakeholder management capabilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience in working in an international environment would be an asset.
  • High level of integrity
